Many many thanks :)Īs others have pointed out, you can use JetBains's Toolbox app to manage the IDE installs. Actually I did not know it existed until now. So my question is did just nobody yet submitted the community editions to the repos or are there any legal or other issues involved?Īs far as I can tell the community variants are all open source.Įdit: Thanks all for you very good answers and for pointing out the Toolbox. Yes there is flatseal and stuff but I somehow would like a native package instead.Īlso I want to avoid manually updating by using the binaries shipped by JetBrains themself. The flatpaks sometimes do not catch up system wide python or jdks correctly or just plain can not access files due to a missing filesystem=host permission. The home packages are sometimes not updated regular or they pull in other packages you may not want from there. I hesitate to get them from a home repo or from flatpak. Hey there this is something I noticed already a while ago and would like to ask what may be the reason behind it.īut why isn't any JetBrains Community Edition IDE in any of the main repos? Most importantly for me this is P圜harm and IntelliJ.
